State FFA Convention

By Breya Beck

The Waynoka FFA had a very busy 3 days at the "97th Oklahoma State Convention." Members that attended were Tayen Redgate, Makinze Smith, Breya Beck, Marlie Pitts, Alivia Seaman, Shay Wilson, Rhiata and Rholton Bouziden, Raelee Cunningham, Stetson Nix, Temperance Bouziden and Madison Blocker. Jessica Goucher and Kennedy Zook were there also as part of the chorus!

Monday, May 1st we arrived in Tulsa! We had a great time golfing and enjoyed a great meal at "GolfSuites Tulsa." Thank you to Steve and Connie Redgate for sponsoring our outing and meal that evening!

Tuesday, May 2nd we attended all three general sessions. Tayen Redgate and Jessica Goucher received their “Career Passports” in Agribusiness! We also got to explore the expo. After the third session we attended the “William Clark Green” concert that evening!

Wednesday, May 3rd Jessica Goucher sang in the fourth general session for the talent competition and did a great job! During the 5th session Breya Beck was announced “Champion State Reporter,” and received a $1,000 scholarship! During the sixth and final session Jessica Goucher and Tayen Redgate both received their “State FFA Degrees!” Jessica also received the “Stan Kingma Scholarship” for $1,000! Congratulations to each of you for your huge accomplishment, hard work, and dedication you put into each of your categories and offices!

Jessica Goucher and Kennedy Zook sang in the FFA chorus! Just in two days they learned multiple songs to perform and sang them many times over the course of the convention in the general sessions. We are very proud of both of them and their great performances!

Tayen Redgate ran for Northwest Area Vice President. Although she wasn't elected, we are still extremely proud of the hard work and dedication she put in and how far she came!

We would like to thank our sponsors and chaperones for attending the convention with us! Ryan and Dacia Redgate, Lindsay Seaman, Alicia Pitts and Savannah Smith; a smooth convention would not have happened without you! Thank you!
